Description: Hi guys,
Just a bit to introduce myself, I'm an Australian living in London, and have been here so long, I feel like one of the locals.
But when I was growing up, my family lived in Goolwa and we were lucky enough to have a house which was very close to the River Murray.
In fact out of my bedroom window, I could see the Captain Sturt, and despite her looking a shadow of her former self, I developed a crush on that old boat, something that has remained with me to this day. I imagined that one day I would come back, buy her, restore her and quite what I would do then was never really worked out.
That was a while ago now, life hasn't quite worked out like that - so far at least.
I'm a 3D Visualiser by trade and so whilst taking a break from modelling pieces of the Titanic's engine room which is a long on going project, I thought I would find something a little smaller in scale.
So my brief has been to research and rebuild a 3D model of the Captain Sturt. I take a great deal of pride in accuracy, which takes longer to achieve a result, but hopefully the end result is work the effort. I'm now on the final part of the project, so am now taking the opportunity to share my work.
But being a hobby, it always has to take second place to my commercial work, so progress is in fits and starts.
Mean time if anyone has any information that you think would be of help, I'd be most appreciative.
Cheers
Simon
