Eppleton Hall - the video
« on: December 03, 2021, 07:21:34 AM »

Just found this video on YT telling the story of Eppleton Hall's voyage from Newcastle to San Francisco.
The video is based on the book by Scott Newhall who sailed the ship on this epic voyage.

Jurgen

BTW: I have been looking for that book for some time but it seems to be out of print and I found it on Amazon for $700+ USD. That's kind of pricy, so I will have to settle for the 34 minute video.

Thanks for that Heads-up on the video. It has the absolute wow factor. I thought that over the years I had collected all the Seaham Harbour paddler tug photos but there are some there I havnt got! To anyone reading, this video is a MUST SEE. BUT... I am hard of hearing and I quite often use text on videos as digital sound is distorted by my hearing aids and the text has so many mistakes : Appleton for Eppleton, tine for River Tyne, CM harbour  for Seaham,  dunsten for Dunston and the list goes on! Thanks again this is a video to save and keep looking at for the wealth of detail it contains.  As a child living in Sunderland I remember almost all of the tugs shown, and as a six year old (in 1947) standing on two beer crates on the bridge of PT Seaham  to go out and pull my fathers last ship into the harbour and coaling staither for yet another load of coal for London. Regards, Walter.
Blessed are the "cracked" -for they let in the light for the rest of us.
