A bit of good news: Maid of the Loch.
« on: January 11, 2005, 08:18:13 AM »
Hot off the press !! The paddle steamer Maid of the Loch based at Balloch Loch Llomond, Scotland has received a full Lottery grant for its completion and  the restoration of the Victorian steam winch house and slipway. This slipway is necessary to get the Maid out of the water for attention to its lower hull and the fitting of new boilers. This should see her in service in a couple of years time licenced for about 1000 passengers. If you are in Scotland this year, she is open for visits (free)  to see the superb interior rebuild and exhibition. There is a super restaurant and cafe on board and you will be made most welcome. Cheers, Walter.
Blessed are the "cracked" -for they let in the light for the rest of us.

Great news indeed Walter - After the sad story of the paddle tug Reliant, it's nice to see we can get things right in the UK sometimes!

I can see another trip up to Scotland will be on the cards very soon! :-)

Regards
Eddy
