Brett McCormack, owner of Highland Yachts, 19 Edinburgh St.,, Green Island, Dunedin, New Zealand:
http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~bsmack/ has developed a new class of "Footy" model yachts. At only 12 inches long the "Footy" is the world's smallest class of radio controlled model yacht. They perform well for their size and are able to sail under most wind conditions.
"Footy" class yachts are ideal for exhibitions, school groups and the like. They can be raced or sailed on any small body of water, are cheap to build and as much, or more, fun to sail than the bigger classes of radio yacht. Control is restricted to two standard servos and 4 AA batteries, no micro servos or small battery packs— just standard radio available anywhere.

Aimed squarely at attracting new young budding designers and builders. Several schools have undertaken this project - ideal for plastic or wood building, as well as vacuum forming for the more advanced school project.
